The staff of the infant room would like to share what we do on a daily basis with our babies. We are not just babysitters; everything we do with them is intentional. When we talk to them while diapering and feeding and while singing and reading we are teaching the infants communication skills. When we respond to their cries we are building a foundation of trust with them. This trust leads to healthy emotional development. When the infants have a secure attachment to their caregivers, they feel safe and spend more time exploring the toys and their world. When we spend time playing with the babies, we are teaching them how to interact with another person. Children who are better at interacting with others have healthier relationships as they grow and are better able to succeed!
